“That girl is so thin that she can be blown away by soft breeze”, “Oh probably her mother does not give her enough to eat”, “Oh! She is stick thin, she must be so weak”.
I’m sure that all the super thin girls/women out there can relate to such comments. I am with you girlies; I get this all the time. The problem is when my mom gets to hear these comments about me, I am put on a weight gain diet of cheese, milk, nuts, pastries (n all other the things a woman on weight loss is craving for). The problem gets worse when skinny people take such comments to heart and try really hard to put on some extra kilos by hook or crook. Most of the times the ways we select to get a little heavy are wrong. Those fatty things are going to do no good but settle in your arms, hips or tummy, making your body look funny.
We all have a different body constitution and no matter how much we eat or how little we eat the basic constitution cannot be changed. Does that mean one can never gain weight? NO. One can but not overnight. However, if you have a fast metabolic rate then you will tend to lose easily and so will have to feed your body accordingly and put in a little extra effort. By the way basic metabolic rate is the rate at which your body burns or uses up the energy (provided by food).
If you are a teenager with a high BMR stuffing yourself up with a lot of food hoping that the weighing machine would move a point further; I say stop. After the age of 25 the metabolic rate naturally slows down and one is bound to gain then. In fact those who are thin should thank God or actually parents for being blessed with such bodies because gaining weight is a lot easier than losing the fat.
Also those who are thin it is probably because you are involved in a lot of activities and if you can carry out all the activities without cracking down then way to skinny girls, you are a 100% fit. Fitter than all your plump so called healthy cousins and friends. If you don’t fall sick regularly and don’t feel low or drowsy while working that means you are as healthy as one can be.
I can’t be unfair and side by my likes so let me tell all the plump women out there that gaining for us is as difficult as losing is for you. The age old age is so true that grass is greener on the other side. So while you girls gain weight even by thinking about the calorie rich food we girls lose weight even when asleep. While you feel shy to go to the sales guy and ask for a ‘large’ we embarrassingly ask the sales guy “isme extra small nahi hai kya?” (at times we even get the small ones altered). If it helps I have even gone to the kids section once (at least that is one place where I can ask for a large).
Women are good in all sizes and I am not trying to be funny here. If you are overweight or underweight there is a way out. Just don’t get weighed down by comments.
