You still have a few months before it will be time to fit in to that that dress you have been eyeing at your favourite store for New Year’s Eve. Chuck the thought of a crash diet if you are even remotely considering it. Because it will indeed help you fit in to that dress, but the moment you stop dieting you are going to put it back on in a matter of days. If you want to lose weight and ensure that it does not affect your health in a manner that is destructive you should follow an approach that is driven by a goal.

To achieve success in all aspects of life you should be goal oriented. When you have a goal in mind it becomes easier to work towards it and realise it. However do not employ means that help you achieve your goals deceptively. Follow a righteous part which will ensure that you only emerge stronger in the long run.

You may wonder what the importance of goal setting is. Well, for starters if helps you motivate towards working towards a target you have set for yourself. When you are self motivated the journey becomes much easier. When you have a goal you can develop a strategy to work towards it. It is essential that you have a strategy and the means to achieve your goal. If it is weight loss you need to draw up a plan as to how you plan to say achieve your goal of losing 7 kgs in 3 months.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It is ideal that you speak with a nutritionist and your trainer at the gym. They can help you chalk out a strategy that will help you realistically achieve your goals. They are experts in the industry and have a fair idea of results. So if you take their help you can  know for a fact that it will work.

Track your performance. When you have a goal and you have successfully been able to identify milestones before you achieve it you can be able to track your performance along the way. When you track your performance you understand weather the ultimate goal is being work towards. You can work on areas that are not showing results and you can analyse the entire situation before it is too late.

Being goal oriented does not mean being obsessed. Be patient and practice what you have planned for yourself in a committed fashion and you will see results sooner rather than later. It always helps to work towards something with a single minded focus, so be determined and set out to achieve the target you have set for yourself without laying down any unnecessary pressure on your mind.

When you do manage to lose the weight you intended to, try and maintain your focus on staying healthy. Set another goal, maybe not one that works towards you losing weight but maintaining the right weight. There you go, you cannot achieve something if you do not know what you are working towards, discipline helps.
