I AM Fat

I had a friend of mine in school once who would make fun of pretty much every fat guy he would come across. Even though I lost touch with him after he left school in the 7th standard, we would somehow manage to keep in touch. So one day we planned to meet after years at Mc. Donald’s at one of the malls. And that is when I saw the most disastrous thing ever. The same guy who was one of the best athletes of his time and would make fun of every
fat person around had probably outpaced every one with his own weight. When I asked him as to how he ended up becoming so fat, he really couldn’t give an answer to it. But it isn’t really that difficult to determine the reasons for the premature obesity today’s youth is facing.

With the various fast food joints which have started opening pretty much in every corner of the social world, kids really don’t feel like going to some place where they might have to wait and have a tiresome treat. Birthdays are the easiest to celebrate at a fast food joint as they don’t require too much of expenditure and also allows people to enjoy upon some lip smacking food not knowing the ill effects of it. Once a person did a household experiment where he took 3 jars and kept different commodities in them. One had a locally produced beef burger, one had a Mc Chicken from Mc Donald’s, and one had the ‘Fries’ served at Mc Donald’s. The beef burger took less than a week to rot down and get fungus and then the Mc Chicken burger got affected, and then finally the fries which took around 9 months to decay. This proves how plastic and harmful they might be.
Obesity as a disease shouldn’t just be blamed on the fast food joints. A thing such as falling slave to technology especially when it comes to entertainment for kids has taken a completely different route. Children now prefer staying inside their houses with their game stations and x-boxes living a virtual life while ignoring any form of physical activity. Considering the influence laid down by the western countries especially in the segments of food, what the youth fails to realize that they need to burn equal amounts of calories.

Obesity can lead to some extremely serious physical problems. It leads to hormonal problems, heart failure, cancer, weak bones and immunity etc.
Fortunately obesity is a sort of a disease which isn’t that difficult to control. All that is required is some physical exercise and proper guidance from a well trained instructor. The youth doesn’t realize that they are in danger. They need to realize that if they don’t control this now, it might just lead to long term problems in their life which might add up to something really disastrous and affect them for the rest of their lives.
