The idea of sitting on a mat at some serene place with someone asking you to control your breath might appeal to some, but what if it doesn’t? What if you want to lose weight without having to enrol into yoga classes or go for other conventional methods? Then there is the perfect option for you. Dancing.

Dancing is becoming very popular with the young and the old alike. For a number of years, except for classical dances, other forms of dances were not really popular in our country, but that is changing. There are a lot of youngsters who are learning dance as a hobby, as a new skill to acquire and also to lose that extra weight. Did you ever notice that all dancers have perfect bodies? If you have never observed any, do so sometime. You will see that most of them are perfectly fit, without an ounce of fat on them. You will also notice something else. All dancers have a certain grace and fluidity of movement about them that you will not find in non-dancers.

Then the question arises, what kind of dance form will help you best to shed that extra weight. With so many dance forms around, and all of them seeming to be appealing, it is a tough job to choose. The first step to dancing is finding a dance form you think you will be comfortable with. Be it Flamenco, Jazz, Rumba, Ballroom dancing, and if you have a partner, even Salsa. The idea is to pick a dance form and giving it a try. It is important to stick to one form for at least a month, without giving up so easily. But what does dancing do to your body exactly? Each dance form helps your body in a certain way. Flamenco, with its graceful moves, dignified expressions, helps build stamina. It also brings about mental alertness as you have to move to the guitar tunes and the claps, creating a heady powerful feeling. Jazz is a mix of a number of dance forms including tap dance, jitterbug, and most contemporarily Hip Hop. Jazz helps improving body posture; maintain a perfect balance, also toning the body along the way. Then the most popular of all dances among couples especially, Salsa. Salsa is known to be the most sensual of all dances. They say when doing salsa, choose your partner carefully, because by the end of it, you will be in love. That is the effect Salsa can have. Salsa helps in building endurance, relieve stress, even reduce heart beat, apart from helping you lose oodles of weight.  And if you are the kind who likes something wild and fast, try belly dancing. It is the perfect dance to help tone muscles and improve flexibility.

So, even if you think you are two left feet, cannot move, stop looking for excuses, put of your dancing shoes and dance. What better way to not only lose weight but get a distinct personality, amazing attitude, and an awesome body. Nothing will make you feel that happy, that totally positive attitude, apart from dancing. Go shake a leg!!
